Emotional wellbeing
Build understanding and practical ways to respond to stress and emotions.
Make an enquiry Everyone’s goals are different. You might want to feel more confident in social situations, manage overwhelming emotions or make daily routines easier. AO Psychology offers counselling-based therapeutic support for eligible self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. We focus on meaningful goals in everyday life and participation. Funding and service suitability are checked before sessions.

Psychosocial support focuses on how emotional and mental health difficulties affect everyday life and participation. Depending on a person's goals, support may explore managing emotions, starting activities, communicating, handling change and taking part in the community. Where appropriate, it would be coordinated with other supports.
Our counselling-based support is tailored to agreed disability-related goals. It can include therapeutic discussion, psychoeducation, emotional regulation strategies and progress reviews. This is distinct from specialist behaviour support, support coordination and psychosocial recovery coaching.
For one person, progress might mean speaking up during an appointment. For someone else, it could be getting through a busy outing or keeping to a helpful routine. We start with your goals and look at practical steps you can build on.

We offer NDIS-funded counselling for eligible self-managed and plan-managed participants. AO Psychology is not an NDIS-registered provider, so we cannot deliver NDIA-managed funded supports. We check whether counselling is an appropriate funded support under your plan, and confirm the support item, fees and any applicable NDIS price limits before proceeding.
We discuss your goals, how counselling may help you work towards them and how progress can be reviewed. With your consent, we may collaborate with a support coordinator or another professional where appropriate.
